Why We Have Hard Times

By Don Ruhl (March 21, 2007)

Read the Bible in a year chronologically by reading Deuteronomy 8-10 today

God told Israel why life was hard for them, He said, "And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not" ( Deuteronomy 8:2). God allows hard times for us that He might know whether we are going to keep His commandments or not. Then in the very next verse, He said that Israel needed to learn that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

Do we need to learn that same lesson? Do you need to learn that lesson? Yes, we all need to learn and that is why God allows us to be humbled. Let us then show Him that we are going to obey Him regardless of what is going on in our lives.
