Who Was Casluhim?

By Don Ruhl (January 5, 2007)

Read the Bible in a year chronologically by reading Genesis 10 and 11; First
Chronicles 1:19-28 today.

Have you ever heard of Casluhim? His name is mentioned in the Bible. In fact, he was the father of a nation, which we read about frequently in the Scriptures. In Genesis 10:13, Moses started listing the sons of Mizraim, and then Moses wrote in verse 14, "Pathrusim, and Casluhim (from whom came the Philistines and Caphtorim)" ( Genesis 10:14). Casluhim was the father of the Philistine nation that opposed Israel so much. Did the nation take after their founder? Was he an antagonistic man? The Bible does not give us enough information to answer those questions, because it was not necessary for the story of the Bible.

However, it caused me to wonder what am I building in my family. If my daughters teach their children (when they have them) to become like their grandpa, what shall they be like? What kind of mindset are you creating for your family?
