When You Sin

By Don Ruhl (January 10, 2008)

Read the Bible in a year by reading First John 2 today.

John wrote the letter we call First John that we might learn not to sin (1Jn. 1:2a), but from time to time we still give in to temptation. Therefore, John wrote, "And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" ( 1 John 2:1b). We do not lose hope, but we know that God made a way possible to remove our sins.

This way is not for Christians alone, but all people in the world can have Jesus as an escape from the eternal consequences of sin. John wrote further, "And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world" ( 1 John 2:2).

The thoughtfulness of our God no one can describe in its fullness. He hates our sin, but He also wants to salvage us from it. Run to Him and find forgiveness.
