Those Excluded From the Assembly

By Don Ruhl (March 31, 2008)

To read the Bible in a year, read Deuteronomy 23-25.

Moses revealed to Israel, "He who is emasculated by crushing or mutilation shall not enter the assembly of the LORD" ( Deuteronomy 23:1). Those of illegitimate birth and Ammonites and Moabites could not enter the assembly either (vv. 2-4). God had His reasons for listing these people, but the point is this, reasons existed that some people could not be with the assembly.

Today God wants all people to be part of His assembly, except for certain ones who are unqualified due to their impenitent sin. It has nothing to do with physical characteristics like those mentioned above, but the spirit of a person has to be right, and if not, he or she must repent, or be excluded.
