The Lord Roars

By Don Ruhl (February 1, 2008)

To read the Bible in a year, read Amos 1-3.

When a lion roars, you do not want him to be roaring at you. When the Lord roars against you it is better to have a lion roaring against you.

God raised up a prophet during the days of Uzziah king of Judah and the days of Jeroboam king of Israel, and the prophet said,

“The LORD roars from Zion,
And utters His voice from Jerusalem;
The pastures of the shepherds mourn,
And the top of Carmel withers.” ( Amos 1:2)

When the Lord roars, the fields mourn and the tops of mountains wither. Only the hearts of living creatures shudder when a lion roars, but when the Lord roars, the non-living objects of creation terrible and shrink back as though they are alive.

Do we shudder and tremble when the Lord speaks judgment? Read the Book of Amos. Listen to the Lord deal with the nations in judgment. Let us tremble for every nation on the face of this earth!
