The Liberation of Forgiveness

By Don Ruhl (March 9, 2007)

Read the Bible in a year chronologically by reading Mark 11:20-33 today.

Yes, forgiveness is liberating. There is nothing that I want more from God than for Him to forgive me. Yet, if you read the words of Jesus you will see that some liberation happens even before God forgives us. Are you ready for this? Listen to our Lord. "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses" ( Mark 11:25). Ask God to forgive all the people who are
persecuting you, saying that they do not know what they are doing. Do not make it a prayer of general references, but name every single person who comes to your mind, both in the present and in the past. Any bitterness and grudges that try to enter your heart will flee like a frightened cat. It feels good.
