The Foundation for Morality

By Don Ruhl (February 24, 2007)

Read the Bible in a year chronologically by reading Leviticus 18 and 19 today.

Leviticus 18 is a list of various immoralities that God did not want Israel to commit. The Lord began this section by telling Moses, "Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: 'I am the LORD your God'" ( Leviticus 18:2). After announcing that fact, He then listed the immoral things to avoid.

What Israel needed to know was that Yahweh was their God. If they kept that in mind, then they would not become immoral, as the Canaanites had been.

Friends, it is still true that knowing who is our God is the foundation for all righteousness. Please pray for our various nations represented on this list that they would follow the one true and living God. So then, they shall not defile themselves with abominations.
