Do You Criticize Either Way?
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 7:31-50.
John the Baptizer lived one way and Jesus live the other way. Yet, those who criticized John also criticized Jesus. In response, Jesus said, "To what then shall I liken the men of this generation, and what are they like? They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying: 'We played the flute for you, And you did not dance; We mourned to you, And you did not weep.' For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' But wisdom is justified by all her children" ( Luke 7:31-35). John abstained and the men of that generation criticized him for it. Jesus did not abstain and the same men criticized Him for it.
Some people criticize no matter what. If they see you do something this way, the first thing they do is find fault with it. If they see you do something another way, the first thing they do is find a fault with it. You cannot please such people, because they believe they are better than you. Therefore, do not waste your time trying to please them, and definitely do not lose sleep over such critics.
