A Woman Who Sought the Lord

By Don Ruhl (May 24, 2008)

To read the Bible in a year, read Second Kings 4 and 5.

In yesterday's devotional from the Old Testament, we saw a king who did not seek Yahweh God of Israel, but the false god of Ekron. The king was desperate and did something stupid. Today, we will read of a woman who did seek the Lord, "A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, 'Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves'" ( 2 Kings 4:1). Elisha quickly remedied her situation. However, notice that this woman, along with her husband, already feared the Lord. Then when disaster struck, she knew what to do.

Do you fear the Lord?
