A Love/Hate Relationship

In Mark 6 Herod liked John the Baptizer, but in Matthew 14, the Bible says, "And although [Herod] wanted to put [John] to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet" ( Matthew 14:5).

In some ways, Herod respected John and in other ways wanted him dead. When people are not rooted in the word of God, some of them can be double minded and unstable in all their ways.
