Today's prayer: God's party

Lord of all joy, the world thinks it has a corner on partying and happy times. Revelers pull out the stops to enjoy life to its ultimate. But the next day, or the next week, the party's over, and reality settles in.

You provided feasts of celebration for Israel. Your Son rejoiced in many things during his life and ministry. As Christians, we have multiple reasons for joy, times of celebration, and, above all, hope for the Great Banquet at the end of all things.

Yours, O Lord, is the one party I don't plan to miss. Praise to you for your invitation, through Christ who brought all the plans together. Amen.
