Checks and Balances

By J. Randal Matheny (December 28, 2005)

Eternal God who knows the right time for everything, it's end of the month, end of the year. Our budget is blown, seems like the paychecks never bring the account back into balance. I want to provide for my family, and do a good job of it. More, I want to please you by the use we make of our material goods. And be that disciple who believes in your promise to provide for those who seek your kingdom first.

So I pray: "I trust in you; I trust in you. I seek you first, above all else." And may I pray it, Father, without one eye cracked to see if the basics are coming down the chute.

Because your Son trusted you implicitly. Amen.
