NO PREMARITAL OR extramarital sex, no out of wedlock pregnancy, no divorce, no abortion, no sexually transmitted disease, no incest, no love triangle, no homosexual or lesbian involvement, no other sexual perversion; yet, this simple and sweet love story of Boaz and Ruth has entertained, thrilled, and encouraged its readers for centuries and continues to do so...
Of course, the book of Ruth is much, much more than a charming love story. Bringing welcomed peace and beauty to the otherwise tumultuous period of the judges, Ruth is an informative work issuing from a God-inspired pen; it makes a significant contribution to the grand Bible purpose of saving the souls of men through Jesus Christ to the glory of God. The book tells of our Heavenly Father's marvelous providence operating in the lives of godly men and women and of the consequent blessedness they enjoyed. It also supplies an intriguing link in the lineage of our Lord Jesus Christ as His most profound story of the ages unfolds towards a complete Old Testament record which in sum says, "Christ, the Savior, is coming."
