Sentimentality

WE MUST STRIVE to never wallow in sentimentality and call it love...

We must remove all permissiveness toward sin in the name of love. True biblical love does not permit, endorse, excuse or countenance sin. On the contrary, with all the gentleness of a mother caring for a nursing child, to use one of Paul's figures of speech, biblical love cries out against all manner of evil everywhere. It demands the best from us in demonstrating our very best toward others. Let us cultivate agape in our own lives and teach our children to do the same that we may be true children of our Father in Heaven. True love retards sin -- it never encourages it! (D. Gene West)

KneEmail: "But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children" (1 Thess. 2:7).
