Hollywood

SIN IS BEING celebrated in so many ways in our culture that we really should not be surprised that there is now a line of greeting cards specifically for people having affairs...

The new "Secret Lovers Collection" has an initial line of 24 cards, each with a special message for forbidden and secret relationships.

If you are shocked by what you just read, you are probably in the minority in this country. We are bombarded with multiple messages of tolerance and acceptance of sin each day. One can find not just the acceptance of sin but even the celebration of it on every channel on television, in many lyrics of popular songs, in advertising, and now in greeting cards.

The creator of these cards cited soap operas as part of the basis of her decision to create them. "Look at the soap operas. It's all about forbidden love. Look at how many people on soap operas are having affairs. That's real. And I think that's why this is so scary -- these cards are real, and for a lot of people it hits very close to home."

That is real? No. That is Hollywood's version of life. Have you every noticed how the bad guy can shoot at a good guy 50 times and miss, yet when the good guy shoots once he hits the bad guy? That is not real -- it is Hollywood. (Mike Baker)
