Envy

DOES YOUR HEART turn green with envy when a coworker or friend who doesn't know God buys a bigger house than yours or can afford to go to the best restaurant in town...?

It shouldn't, because your coworker or friend may be settling for the riches of this world while by-passing more valuable eternal rewards. Anyone who owns a huge house but has an empty heart is not completely blessed. Having a small house and a lot of love can be better than the finest mansion. Visit a well-to-do person who lives without Jesus and whose family problems have emptied his home of love, and that becomes apparent. But even the non-Christian with a happy family life only settles for an enjoyable eighty or so years, with no promise of eternal blessings (Pamela McQuade).

KneEmail: "Do not let your heart envy sinners, but be zealous for the fear of the LORD all the day" (Prov. 23:17).
