Interested in History

One generation will praise your deeds to another,
and tell about your mighty acts!
I will focus on your honor and majestic splendor,
and your amazing deeds!
Psalm 145:4-5 NET

The Christian studies history. Not so much human as divine history. Not dates, names, wars or inventions of men, but rather the movement, miracles, answers, rescues, words, and promises of God are what fascinate.

Above all, the Christian's special interest is God-in-the-flesh, Jesus Christ. His works and words are especially precious.

What God did, and does, is not a subject for mere human curiosity, nor do we study his acts, as we do human history, to understand the present better.

This history is personal. God wants to do great things in my life, for his plan. But this history is not subjective. It really happened then, it happens now as well.

Best of all, the great acts of God in history mean that history can repeat itself in my life.

History comes alive because the Almighty's "amazing deeds" means I see him at work in and through me.
