Richard Mansel assumes role as managing editor
by J. Randal Matheny, editor
Richard Mansel has been named managing editor of Forthright Magazine, effective immediately.
In his previous post as assistant editor, Richard went far and beyond the call of duty.
The new position reflects much of what he's already been doing -- working hard as an editor and doing much more than a mere assistant.
In 2009, Forthright will launch a new column for him. He'll move from the old column, "Square One," writing articles for non-Christians, to a broader approach that will allow him more freedom to address wider issues of Christian living and to deal with cultural and social issues and tendencies.
Richard has brought a new dynamic to Forthright Magazine and has worked hard as a columnist who never misses a week, as a fill-in email editor with no title, as an assistant editor who went beyond the call of duty, and now as managing editor worthy of his badge.
We're thankful to have such dedication as his in the service of the magazine.
What does this mean to you as a subscriber? You'll not feel much change, since Richard already has been dealing with the day-to-day email and online tasks. It does mean you'll hear more from him, and he'll be showing up more in responses to queries and needs.
Besides Richard's being constantly in touch on these subjects with associate editor Barbara Oliver and me, we frequently consult together on the larger vision of the magazine's development and growth.
Why not write Richard a note of congratulations below in the comments section?

I just recently began receiving the email newsletter and it really has been so inspirational to me in so many ways. The messages just seem to be exactly what I need to get. I'm so happy for you and know there are exciting things to come. I began writing devotionals earlier this year, both as an emotional release as well as a ministry for my Church. If I have helped just one person in any way have their spirit lifted, then that in itself makes me smile and know God is lending a hand in helping me help others. God Bless

Posted by: Steven Rasberry at December 12, 2008 8:35 AMI want to thank everyone for their kind words. I am honored that Randal and Barbara have placed their trust in me. Our readers are loyal, encouraging and we are made stronger by them.
The best thing you can do is to continue to read and share the articles here. We want to grow so more people can be built up by the Word of God.
To God be the glory (Ephesians 3:20-21).
